Youth Project Worker post for the East Mendip area (Frome, Coleford and Shepton Mallet)

Post: Youth Project Worker

Location: Based at Frome Youth and Community Centre but delivering Frome, Coleford & Shepton Mallet

Hours: 4 hours per week , 46 weeks per year

Rate of pay: £10.19 per hour

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31/03/2020


The Role

  • To develop and deliver non-centred based youth work for young people aged 11-19 in Frome, Coleford and Shepton Mallet. 

  • To work with local young people, in their community, through setting up, delivering and evaluating a range of relevant, effective youth work projects. Each project would last between 6-10 weeks and be relevant to the community and provide young people with fun informal learning and developmental opportunities.

  • To deliver an annual town centre project to challenge perceived negative stereotyping of young people

  • To provide young people in the area with support, guidance, and positive activities in order to help them reach their potential and become valued members of the community

You may have experience as or in: Outreach Worker, Support Staff, Support Worker, Challenging Behaviour, Voluntary Sector, Social Work, Social Care Worker, Teaching, Teaching Assistant, Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work, Youth Worker, Detached Youth Worker and Youth Provision


The post holder will:

  • be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS

  • be able to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.
